Cooking courses on Koh Samui

Institute of Thai Culinary Arts on Koh Samui
Samui Institute of Thai Culinary Arts (SITCA)

These are the most popular cooking courses on the island, recommended by the BBC television program “Holiday” and such world-famous travel guides as Lonely Planet, the Rough Guide, and Frommer’s Guide. Opened in 1999. Here everyone will be able to improve their culinary skills, master the skills of cooking and decorating Thai dishes.

Thai cuisine lessons are taught by professional chefs who know all the subtleties and secrets of the national culinary art. Classes are held in an air-conditioned kitchen of 90 m2, equipped with modern equipment in compliance with all sanitary standards. Each student is given an apron, provided with their own burner on the stove, dishes and a culinary brochure for notes. For the purpose of accessibility for many Thai ingredients of dishes, substitutes are given that are easier to find in supermarkets in other countries.

At the beginning of the lesson, the chef will introduce the students to the basics of Thai cuisine and tell them about the specifics of its preparation. Then follows the practical part of the lesson, during which students will have to cook Thai culinary delights with their own hands under the guidance of the chef. Now it’s time to taste the resulting dishes and evaluate the result in a cozy dining room and even invite your friends to a tasting! The organizers promise that the culinary masterpieces created by the students will be the best that you have ever tasted in Thailand thanks to the art of mentors and the high quality and freshness of products purchased daily at the local market.

Attention! All dishes can be adapted for vegetarians! Please let us know in advance. Children of 8-11 years old (at least 8) who are able to quietly observe their parents’ education are allowed to classes together with their parents. SITCA organizes private lessons for corporate clients, families, friends and weddings. The minimum number of participants is 10 people.

Three-hour courses are conducted daily twice a day in the daytime and in the evening. The four-course menu is not repeated throughout the week. Students who have attended at least three classes are given a special cook certificate. Here you can buy a special educational DVD with detailed instructions on cooking Thai dishes.
